Second paint date with Doggymommee where we decided to take on 'Fire lake' from CRI Bram. I've done this one before in reddish colouring so changed that now to yellowish to become part of my African series.
Best thing about this creation is, without any doubt, the joy and fun you'll have while painting this along with a good friend. Thanks to Skype, some careful painting preparations (read the article please!) and some flexible time zone appreciation, we managed to paint our own versions of 'Fire lake' together in little over three hours.
Mind you, we were not in a rush at all and did take lots of time for some banter, good stories, jokes and just .... you know, being respectable and understandable friends amongst each other, even when we were 4673,5 miles away. It never felt that far away though, I can assure you.
It has been mentioned several times before by Doggymommee, Sunnylady and myself, to really try such paint dates yourself. You will be amazed in many ways, be sure of that!
Please enjoy Doggymommee's creation and mine and let us know what you think of it on the forum as well as in our comment boxes!! Thanks!!
THANK YOU DOGGYMOMMEE! For being such wonderful companion and outstanding paint buddy on this artistic trip!
Cherry on top of this date would be that both of us got out of our painting hiatus!
Great to hear you guys enjoyed time together! Both paintings look very different and different in mood and they both are great! Those clouds look like dense smoke and I think that fire is close up and I need to evacuate right now.
Great success Voy to break viscous circle and paint again after some break!
Great colours bushes and trees!
Great job Voy, beautiful colours and lovely reflections. 😄
Looks great and sounds like you two had so much fun! Glad to see you back!
I am so happy with my trees and bushes doggymommee! The green and rusty red really contrasts well with that Indian yellow. I added some bright red through it here and there to get some variation and thus came up with some orange, which I believe was a excellent decision.
Heartwarming comment from you Sunnylady, and a real boost for my motivation and zeal.
The picture did show two things and that is that in real, the clouds are in fact more dark grey (I added some slight white tone through them to form clouds within clouds) and the other is that the yellow/ornage is a lot deeper in real.
Clouds look indeed very threathening and in contrast with those nice bushy land strips and that inviting pathway.
I hope to have learned from my void and cannot thank you and Doggymommee enough for being a friend whenever I was in need.
@Joha59! I believe I finally mastered those bushes and trees. Where I used to mess up 80% of the time, now I succeed 80% of the time with them!
Took me a real long time though!
Thanks Nivek!
I paid special attention to those reflections since with my reddish version, the reflections were eaten by the liquid clear. With this version, I really wanted them to stand out and was happy to succeed!
I was never alone Lilikens, that helped me a lot.
We can't emphasize/motivate/advertise enough to really take such painting adventure on. I've done four now in total and there is nothing like it! I really wanna do this once a month and hope to always find a paint buddy available and willing for it.
I really like this. The colours are really great. Details of the trees and bushes are great.
Thank you LJM, I discovered the past two months that I hardly go worong with bushes and trees anymore, finally nailed that!
Probably also I was very motivated since this was painted with one of my good friend here on the site. That always brings out the best in anybody!
v cool V.love the golden water.great work!
It suits my African atmosphere paintings Pietro, so happy you like it! Miss you!
The colors in the water and sky are just beautiful. I also like all the variations in color on trees and shrubs.
ya..havent heard from u.. i just noticed the photo painting show..he he..its a lil late but i may throw something in.Cheers
yes FVG? the past months I finally nailed those coloured bushes and trees. Partially, I use my own trick for that with a 1 inch brush where I add different colours on both top sides. That paints not only faster but also holds surprising variations.
Good luck with that Pietro! Always a pleasure seeing you here!
WOW Voy Kay! This is realy wonderful. Those colours!! I love it!!
Haha, Dona, so happy to read you here!
The red version was perhaps a bit too red for this creation so I thought a strong yellow foundation might also work. And it did!
It contrasts so nice with the bushes and trees (as did the red version).
Till next one!
I have a look at the red one.

It always looks so much better on the computer vs. the phone! This turned out really great, Voy. I had missed the little bits of oranges in the water reflections when we painted Saturday. It's a very nice touch.
